If you were one of the legion of scallywags who trespassed into Nothe Fort between 1956 and 1979, you’re an important part of Nothe Fort’s history!
Nothe Fort would love to hear your tales of adventure so we can share them with our visitors.
In return, Weymouth Civic Society would be delighted to issue you with a Certificate of Amnesty, absolving your forever of any crimes of trespass and damage related to the site.
James Farquharson, Chairman at Nothe Fort said:
“We know that the young people who entered Nothe Fort when it was officially closed had an absolute blast.
The stories we sometimes hear are amazing and must have been among the best days of their lives.
All those scallywags are much older now. Climbing over walls is probably no longer on their to do list, but we really hope our Amnesty Project captures glimpses of the youth and rebellion in everyone who shares their stories.”
If you’d like to take part in our fun and forgiving Amnesty project, the Amnesty Stories form will be open to share your stories from 1st May – 27 May 2025, after which the form will close, and responses will be sorted through.
Selected stories will be used within a special Amnesty exhibition in honour of all your escapades! Contributors will receive invitations to a good-humoured VIP Amnesty event on July 18th 2025 to preview the Amnesty exhibition.
Confessors at the preview event will be awarded a personal Certificate of Amnesty by Weymouth Civic Society.
Once you have completed the form, Nothe Fort team will be in touch with invitations to the story recording session on Monday 2nd June.
