Statement from Kallum Gethins, Company Director and Chairman of The Weymouth Carnival C.I.C.

“As Company Director and Chairman of the Weymouth Carnival C.I.C., I am thrilled to announce our exciting alternative event at the Redlands Community Centre in Weymouth on the 14th August. While the cancellation of this year’s procession was a disappointment, we are dedicated to providing our community with a memorable and enjoyable experience that celebrates the spirit of Weymouth.

Our event will feature a diverse range of activities, including food and drink stalls, general trade stalls, a funfair, classic car collection, and captivating performances by local majorette troupes and the Weymouth Carnival Dance company. We are proud to showcase the talents of our local artists on stage, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of our region.

We understand that some visitors may have booked holidays to come to Weymouth this year specifically for the carnival, and we regret any disappointment caused by the cancellation. We invite those visitors to still enjoy their time in Weymouth by staying in the plentiful amounts of hotels and B&Bs available in our beautiful town.

We encourage attendees of our event and visitors to Weymouth to contribute a £5.00 donation per family. These donations will support both the Weymouth Carnival C.I.C. and a local charity that will be announced soon, reinforcing our commitment to supporting causes that matter to our community.

I invite everyone to join us for a day of fun, entertainment, and community spirit. Together, we can make this event one of the biggest highlights of August, bringing joy and unity to Weymouth and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming you to our celebration at Redlands Community Centre. “
