An amazing ‘new fun-filled family festival’ is being planned for Weymouth in June at Redlands Leisure Park to help raise money for Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance!

‘Summerfest’ is being put together by Weymouth and Portland Round Table, and is due to take place at Redlands Leisure and Community Park on Saturday 3rd June.

“SummerFest is shaping up to be not only one of the largest and most popular events in Weymouth this summer, but also the biggest fundraiser in Weymouth and Portland Round Table’s calendar – so save the date of the 3rd of June in your diary now.

“SummerFest has all the makings of a fantastic day out for local families and visitors alike with a jam-packed line up of activities and attractions, including live bands and the opportunity to watch the FA Cup Final all topped off by a grand fireworks display.”

This comes after the Park was saved after it fell into financial difficulties last year and was faced with closure.

However, a new deal involving Active Dorset and centre users playing a bigger role and ultimately saved Redlands.

Portfolio holder Cllr Laura Beddow said some of the new ways of working had already started and appeared to be going well and she was optimistic for the centre’s future under its new management arrangements.

Dorset councillors have previously been told that unless the numbers using the centre remain high enough its future could still, yet, be threatened.
