Prepare for delays If you have a broadband/telephone Install or repair scheduled next week.

The CWU (Communications Workers Union) announced that 2 days of industrial action will take place, on Tuesday 30th August and Wednesday 31st August.

It appears the dates were carefully selected by the CWU to cause maximum impact. As the action falls immediately after the bank holiday. Effectively causing a 4-day period with either no or minimal engineers working.

The industrial action is over a pay dispute. This is the second wave of industrial action in just over a month.

The CEO of Bt Philip Jansen said earlier this month ” the pay review for 2022 has been completed”. Jansen also indicated he would not return to the negotiation table.

CEO Philip Jansen reportedly accepted a 32 per cent pay rise and now earns £3.5million a year

CEO Philip Jansen then announced £440 million in first-quarter Profits, a day before industrial action.

The industrial action will not only cause issues for Bt customers, as Openreach manages the Installs & repairs for Talktalk, Sky, Plusnet, Vodafone and EE.

A spokesman for Bt once again Reiterated, Yesterday Friday 26th August, that the pay review for 2022 has been completed and will not be reopened.

We also request a statement from them CWU, however they failed to respond.
